Before beginning any treatment, we start by having you in for a consultation with our dental team. During this appointment, we’ll evaluate your dental health, discuss your smile goals, and determine if Invisalign is right for you.
Once you’re deemed a candidate for Invisalign, we’ll take impressions and pictures of your teeth. We’ll also use a high-tech iTero scanner to create a 3D model of your mouth. Based on this model, a precise treatment plan will be mapped out, anticipating the exact movements of your teeth and the duration of your treatment.
After your treatment plan is developed, your custom aligners will be made. You’ll wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
Approximately every six weeks, you’ll visit our office to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Throughout the treatment, you’ll be transitioning to the next set of aligners in the series to gradually move your teeth to their desired positions.
Once your treatment is complete, you may need to wear retainers to ensure your teeth remain in their new positions.
Initially, you might experience some discomfort or feel a slight pressure. This is a good sign, as it means your teeth are moving into their desired positions.
You’ll need to keep your aligners clean. Regularly rinse them in lukewarm water and use the Invisalign cleaning kit or brush them softly with a toothbrush.
Unlike traditional braces, there are no dietary restrictions when completing Invisalign treatment. However, it’s crucial to remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water.
Maintaining oral hygiene is simple with Invisalign. Since the aligners are removable, you can brush and floss your teeth as usual.
The treatment time with Invisalign averages between 9 to 15 months, but this can vary depending on the individual case.
